Teach the Future Brasil, in collaboration with the Museum of Tomorrow—a globally recognized center for knowledge about the Anthropocene—recently hosted a foresight session for young girls in Rio de Janeiro. This session engaged 40 girls, aged 10 to 16, from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in discussions on futures, women’s empowerment, and climate change. Through educational actions, the event linked gender equity with urban futures and climate emergencies.
The "Girls of 10" project, initiated by the Museum in 2017, aims to empower young girls by emphasizing gender equity and their crucial role in fostering sustainable actions for the future. Since 2021, the program has focused on climate education, training young women to become key actors in shaping more sustainable futures.
This program is dedicated to connecting girls and adolescents from across Brazil to break down stereotypes and promote values such as sorority, empathy, identification, and trust. It also addresses the role of women in society, particularly in the fields of Biological and Earth Sciences, with a strong focus on Climate Emergencies.
Aline Alegria, a facilitator from TTF Brasil, led discussions and exercises that challenged the girls to rethink urban spaces. The experience inspired them to explore historical urban imagery and prototype new city models for the future, fostering innovative approaches to urban challenges.
