Inspiring Future-Ready Leaders at Havergal College, Toronto

Earlier this season, our Director of Youth Innovation & Technology, Amna Habiba, had the pleasure of visiting Havergal College in Toronto to engage with Grade 9 students participating in the TC-9 Transdisciplinary Challenge. This nine-day, transformative program focuses on climate action and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), allowing students to explore real-world issues through a futures lens.

Aligned with Havergal’s mission to prepare young women to lead with confidence, resilience, and global-mindedness, TC-9 is a powerful example of how futures thinking can be embedded into the school curriculum.

The program integrated activities from Teach the Future’s Futures Thinking Playbook, encouraging students to imagine possibilities and take meaningful action today.

Amna shared Teach the Future’s mission to promote futures literacy in education and reflected on her own journey as an inaugural NGFP–Young Voices awardee. Her message to the students was clear: their ideas matter, and school projects like TC-9 can be the seeds of real-world change. She encouraged them to consider applying for the NGFP–YV award and to see themselves as the next generation of foresight practitioners.

By supporting students to think critically and creatively about the future, we help cultivate future-ready leaders equipped to shape a better world.
