D-TIPS

Teach the Future has been part of the D-TIPS project: Design-Thinking in Primary Schools.

Background:

The development of abilities, such as critical thinking, reflection, self-regulation, and collaboration, are high on the agenda of all schools. By developing these skills in children schools can contribute to mitigating major challenges in society.

D-TIPS (Design thinking in primary schools) aims to help teachers achieve that. By designing tools and methods specifically for primary school teachers and providing training we hope to make design thinking activities in your classroom easy and effective.

This project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.

We worked together with people from academic and creative background in this project:

• Universitat Pompeu Fabra from Spain

• Strategic Design Scenarios from Belgium

• Newschool from Norway

• Knowledge Economy Forum from Lithuania

TTF's contribution:

To make sure futures thinking and imagining is also included in the work process of the project and in the design thinking toolkit for teachers. TTF's Erica Bol and Els Dragt were the project team involved.

The results:

During 3 years we worked together, doing research, piloting the tools and training material, refining and in the end delivering the following:

• Identification of good practices, tools, gaps and needs for design thinking in primary schools

• Training content

• D-TIPS tools (digital and analog)

• D-TIPS online platform (social and learning community)

• Teaching Symposiums (in Spain, Lithuania, Belgium and Romania).

All the tools and training material are free to use and tweak for anyone interested in teaching young pupils about design thinking!
